Do you have a home studio?

I have invested signficiant time and capital into outfitting my studio to provide a world class audio service to my clients. I have a purpose built sound proofed garden office, inside of which I have a Kube Diamond Vocal Booth. I use a sennheiser 416 microphone, audient id14 interface and a wired high speed internet connect. Audio software is Adobe Audition.

How can we record a voice over?

There are two options. I can record by myself, send multiple takes for options and then do feedback via email, or we can do a directed session. I can connect for directed sessions via zoom, meets, webex and teams, as well as source connect standard or source connect now. If you'd like to connect via session link pro, cleanfeed, or anything else, please let me know and I can try to accommodate.

What is the turnaround time?

For self-directed sessions, I turn around scripts up to 3000 words within 24 hrs of receiving final scripts and go ahead, normally less than 12 hours. Directed sessions can be whenever you want within my availability (see below) and I send the files within 30 minutes of the session normally.

How do you handle script revisions?

All jobs include 1 round of script revisions up to 25 words as standard so you'll be covered for small changes. However, these changes must be requested within 7 days of file delivery. Any changes beyond 25 words or outside of the 7 day pickup period are charged at $150 minimum for the first 50 words and $50 per 50 word chunk thereafter. E.g. 48 words = $150, 53 words = $200 words, 126 words = $250. Anything beyond 150 words or more than 30 days since initial file delivery will be viewed as a new project.

Can you read a sample of my script?

Absolutely. If you'd like me to send a couple reads of a portion of your script to see how I sound reading your work, I can do so within a few hours. This is completely free.

What currencies do you work in and how do I pay?

Given the nature of the USD as a global currency, my headline prices are quoted in USD, but I will bill in either GBP, EUR or USD, with options to pay with local or international bank details. My invoices allow for you to pay either by card or bank transfer. Wise/Paypal also available as secondary options. UK clients are also charged VAT.

When are you available?

I'm available for both directed sessions and self-directed work between 10am-5pm and 8pm-11pm UK time (5am-12pm and 3pm-6pm ET). This allows me to cover both European and US timezones easily.

What happens if I'm not happy with the VO?

In the unlikely event that the VO isn't working for your needs, anything to do with style, tone or pronunciation (i.e. my job) can be changed free of charge until you are completely thrilled. Please note that at the end of a directed session it is assumed that the VO is approved for style unless otherwise discussed.

How much does a VO cost?

For a non-broadcast VO for corporate or web use with no paid placement for 1 deliverable, the minimum rate starts at $400 or relevant currency conversion, plus VAT for UK clients. The rate varies based on length of script (5 mins costs more than 1 min), size of company (multinational company with 50000 employees and 100B in revenue will naturally reach more people than a 10 employee local restaurant), and extent of online publishing (strictly internal vs on external website, organic youtube, facebook and linkedin). For multiple deliverables, i.e. 3 videos at once, I offer bulk pricing by negotiation. For anything involving broadcast media via internet, tv or radio, or for projects involving major brands, please contact me directly.

What does a standard VO rate get me?

You will receive finished ready to use raw and processed audio recordings of your script with 2-3 full takes so you have options to use in your final edit. It also includes full studio costs and a round of minor script revisions if needed, plus a quality guarantee to redo anything if you're not happy. For directed sessions you get up to a 1hr recording session.

What accents do you record in?

The bulk of my work is my natural UK RP accent, but I also provide General American (My wife and dad are both American so I spend a lot of time there) and Edinburgh Scottish (I have lived in Edinburgh for almost a decade). Various character voices also available.

What file formats and editing do you offer?

I offer files as either WAV or MP3. For directed work I provide a quick cut after the session with direction and mistakes removed, but no other editing (breaths, processing). For self-directed work I always supply raw and processed (eq, compression, normalisation) versions with breaths removed and adjustments to pacing.
