What is this blog?
I’ve always tried to think things through. My natural tendency when confronted with a problem or something I don’t understand isn’t to brainstorm out loud, or pool my resources with a group, it is instead to go away and have a good old-fashioned think about it.
At the same time, since becoming a voice over artist, I’ve noticed several topics and questions come up, both from voice over artists themselves and from other creatives interacting with them, and often the answers or explanations stop in the shallow end of the pool.
This is my attempt to think these things through.
This blog represents my ever-changing and constantly evolving reflections on the industry of voice over, with a side smattering of general business & freelancing thoughts.
This blog isn’t a diary, although I may from time to time talk about things happening in my career if they provide an example to illustrate a wider point.
I’m interested in tackling the sometimes complex but always important topics of the industry. Things like:
- How should voice over work be priced?
- What makes a great voice over artist?
- How we should think about the word ‘broadcast’
I hope this is interesting to anyone who cares about the voiceover industry, on either side of the glass.
